When trying to download certain MATCHED songs, I'm getting the message that "This item cannot be downloaded." This initial message is then followed by another message: "There was problem downloading x (where x is the name of the song). An unknown error occurred (11111)." This seems to happen randomly. Most frustratingly, I then cannot play any of these songs in iTunes. iTunes cannot find them in the cloud, even though the status shows Matched! I'd be grateful if anyone has any ideas here. Apple, are you checking these forums?!

I had nearly 8,000 songs matched, but I am continously getting "Error: 11111"
This is extremely frustrating as I have deleted this content in the hopes of getting upgraded music. What is the cause and what is the solution?

Same error here. I'd like to know if anyone has eventually managed to download these matched tracks, or if they present the same problem time after time. I've tried two or three times with each (13,000 tracks, maybe 6 or so have had this problem), but no luck. Should I undelete them from the trash, or should I just wait a day and try again?

Can you play the songs at all in iTunes, after you tried (unsuccessfully) to download them? I cannot... Nor have I ever been able to download any of these matched tracks on repeated attempts. I've turned iTunes Match off until they figure this out. It's clearly a major issue, and I'm not willing to risk deleting music files meantime.

My first track that I tried to delete a lower quality version (128 kbps) and replace with the Matched 256 kbps AAC gave me this exact error. Luckily I only deleted the song from my library and not completely off my computer. I really hope this gets resolved soon!

I'm having the same problem with many of my matched songs. I deleted the original lower quality tracks and then tried to download the 256 kbps version, but keep getting the 11111 error code.

Yes, this is very frustrating, by far the most frustrating of all iTunes Match problems. Especially this problem makes it IMPOSSIBLE to properly sync several libraries.
My case:
Mac Mini with Apple Lossless Library
MacBook Pro with 128bit library
Result:
Songs get matched, both libraries become doubled. I have to go album by album, delete the lower bit versions and download the matched 256 versions in order to have a single synced album on both computers, keeping the ALAC original on the mini and the lower bit version on the macbook.
The impossible:
Songs which are matched and can't be downloaded can't be synced. Even if I manually put lossless version on the macbook, then create an AAC version, it won't properly connect the album, but create a duplicate. Oh man! 😟
I hope this gets resolved. iCloud iTunes Match is such a good idea!

Also having this issue. In my case, the song is on my latest gen mac mini with the latest lion. Trying to download it on my powerbook with os 10.5.8 and itunes 10.5.1 fails. When I click the button to download the song from icloud it first gives me the error "This computer is not authorized. You must first authorize this computer before before using itunes match with this computer" then it throws the error "There was a problem downloading "[song name]" An unknown error occurred (11111). Please check that the connection to the network is active and try again." I'm definitely online because I'm posting this. This library on my powerbook is the one I initially uploaded to itunes match, so it's definitely matched. But for some reason it doesn't show up in my list of itunes match devies in the itunes store. Also running update itunes match works but doesn't change anything.

I have since been able to successfully download tracks that gave this error. I'm not sure what the deal is exactly, but I know that after waiting a week, and trying again on those tracks, I've been able to download an iTunes Match 256kbps copy. Has anyone else found such success?

This happens to me on a few songs. I cannot download to my iphone or itunes.
There are about 3 songs on Van Halen's 1984 that this continues to happen with.

same problem here.
- Around 9000 songs added to iTunes Match.
- Trying to sync on a clean windows machine got continues "the item you requested is not available for download"
followed by "error 11111" messages. - To make things worse: its two messages per each unsuccessful download, and the dialog is MODAL.
- It requires me to babysit the process, dismissing the dialogues.
iTunes team - aren’t you ashamed of yourself ?
at least put an explanation out there and publish a temporary fix to ignore errors and continue to next song until the root cause will got fixed .

Just got the same Error here, (11111). I've got bout 8800 Song in the cloud.
3 Songs from a Album are working, getting the error on the other ones.
Edit:
Just solved the Problem on this Album. Copied the Tracks (ALAC) to my MacBook and reuploaded them again in the cloud, now it's working. I use iTunes Match on 2 Computers (WIN PC & MacBook) on the PC i've got the error in the cloud. Strange. 😕

Thanks. Re-uploading the songs which were matched but unable to download (11111) worked. I could not delete from icloud the 4 error songs prior to re-upload. But I uploaded, had duplicates, then deleted. Now it works.

Not sure if it will help anyone but I had this exact problem with a number of songs. Turned out that these songs were in a playlist that had been synced to iCloud. I deleted the playlist and immediately the songs began downloading.

An unknown error occurred (11111). Anyone have a clue what this means?!
